This modern Apartment in Flinders Street, Melbourne was ripe for a Kitchen update when our lovely client moved in.

Although practical, the kitchen was dated and lacked flow that the client was searching for especially when entertaining guests. The kitchen layout also made the Apartment feel like it was shut off from the main living area inside the apartment. While the look our client wanted to achieve was open and spacious.

The client was hoping that a distinct change would make the kitchen and living room feel more integrated. Wanting to bring the older style into a modern-day look which would be carried out throughout the Apartment.

When our Richmond Showroom Designer first visited the Apartment it was clear a small space could achieve an open look if it was designed well.  The design needed to work to open the space but also create a feeling of luxury that overlooked the adjoining living room and Melbourne outdoor city living.

The proposal to the client was modern and bold. An entire white kitchen with floor to ceiling cabinetry and luxurious waterfall ends on the standalone island bench. The concept created luxury, improved flow in and out of the kitchen and ensured every detail was articulate.

The use of Qualia white handleless cabinetry helped create an open feel whilst still creating the luxury of an inner-city apartment.  The added touch of fan tiles with dark grey grout matched with the black tap creates a striking impact matched with the adjoining black shelves.

Our client absolutely loves her new easily flowing space with more storage and the modern open feel she desperately sought. Another favourite element is the Bora rangehood with built-in downdraft suction fan to remove all the smells from her apartment. Embracing new technology and removing the “traditional” wall mounted rangehood has helped the space feel more open.  The client’s Liber fridge cleverly hidden behind cabinetry also creates the seamless flow of the kitchen.

In this Melbourne Kitchen Renovation, it’s the small details that have created a wow factor with the seamless flow of cabinetry aligning purposefully for the eye to admire. The kitchen is now beautiful, practical and most importantly easy to cook in.
