How long do you think the average Melbourne Kitchen Renovation takes?
Two weeks? A month?
A Zesta Kitchen Renovation in your home typically takes less time than other kitchen renovations. But it’s still important to set realistic expectations of how long your kitchen renovation will take, particularly if you have future plans which may interfere with the process or if you have a certain date you plan on having potential home buyers over to view the property.
The first and most important step typically takes the longest, and it’s hard to say exactly how long it will take:
Choosing your perfect kitchen
Time: 2 to 8 weeks
This can take months, if not years, if you haven’t seriously been considering a kitchen renovation. If you choose to work with one of our Kitchen Designers, you will need to take into account the time you’ll spend meeting with them in your home, taking measurements of your existing space, and then creating a 3D design of your kitchen.
In addition to the above, once you see the design there will likely be several edits and tweaks made to ensure that you’re happy with the final outcome. You’ll also need to decide which appliances, finishes and cabinetry you want so that you or your Kitchen Designer can be sure that everything is going to fit once it’s being installed.
Ordering your new kitchen
Time: 2 to 4 weeks
With varying sizes, lengths and options, it takes time to make your selected pieces from the manufacturer.
At Zesta Kitchens we are known for our fast work, but it’s still fair to expect a wait time of 2 to 4 weeks before the delivery of your kitchen. This is particularly true for benchtops which, depending on the materials you’ve chosen, may not be available for up to 10-14 days from the time your kitchen is installed. Most importantly when you order a Zesta Kitchens we promise to deliver on time every time.
Demolition and kitchen prep
Time: 5 days to 4 weeks
Before your new kitchen can be installed, the old kitchen has to be disposed of or recycled when possible. Removing the old cabinetry shouldn’t take more than a day. It’s the preparation for the new cabinetry that can take a while.
Flooring, electrical and plumbing work may be necessary depending on your kitchen. Basic work may take less than a week, but if you are planning on some major structural changes, this can easily take upwards of one month.
Installing your new kitchen
Time: 1 to 2 days
Depending on the complexity and size of your kitchen, installing your kitchen may take just a day or two for installers to put into place.
You also need to consider how long it may take for the installation of new appliances. Assuming that everything has been measured correctly, this may also take another day to complete.
Bear in mind that while your cabinets can be installed within a day, your benchtop may not be. Stone benchtops can take up to 2 weeks to be installed while laminate benchtops can be installed the same day as your kitchen cabinets.
Splashbacks are usually the last thing to be installed. Splashback installation is another variation which depends on the material chosen and your splashback design. Basic splashbacks can be completed within mere hours, while more complex splashbacks, like mosaic tiles in a large kitchen, can take up to 2 days to complete.
It should also be noted that while stone splashbacks can be installed in a day, the lead time until they are installed is similar to benchtops.
If lighting is being installed, you may find yourself set back by another couple of days. This is particularly true if you are having new lighting installed in workspaces, in the ceiling, in or under the cabinets.
